Some People Mosey Through Life

I'm on vacation for a couple of weeks, awaiting the birth of my forth grandchild (who is being a bit pokey making his appearance) so I've had some time to think about important stuff like how many books to read to my granddaughter Evelynn or how on earth my grandson Ian managed to build that lego contraption. Like I said important stuff.

With that in mind, it occurred to me this evening as I was swinging on the porch, that there are at least two types of hikers: those that walk fast so they can cover a lot of ground and then sit around and brag about it and those that just sorta mosey through life, taking time to smell the roses. I've been like the first group for most of my life and still have a hard time slowing down. My husband even says he can tell from the set of my walk that I am determined to do something. But when I have times like this when we're all just kinda waiting for the baby to be born and not really planning anything non-refundable until then, I get to thinking how I enjoy the moseying pace.

In addition to reading to Evelynn and talking to Ian about his latest invention out of legos, I've been helping Evelynn learn to ride her new bike with the training wheels, sitting on the porch and reading a book about Sgt. York, staying up late and sleeping in until 8 or 9 o'clock, talking with my daughter and son-in-law about current events, going for walks with my daughter, and just having a great time. This is the stuff of life and I really enjoy it. I need to put that in my day planner more often.
