Ronnie Milsap!


We got to go to BPACC last night and see Ed's all-time favorite singer, Ronnie Milsap. Ed even got to talk with him about ameteur radio (RM is also a "ham" radio operator.). And since Ed had written him a letter before he came, the band said Howdy to Ed from the stage. It was a great show and I didn't realize I know as many of his songs as I do (Smokey Mountain Rain, What a Difference You've Made in My Life, etc.). Fun times!

Congratulations, Ed! Glad you got to enjoy Ronnie!
We're going to see whatever is coming this weekend- don't remember the name right off the top of my head...Hope it's good though... Missed you guys last night at Home Group. We spent a lot of time looking at photos of Josh and Cristen's house on the internet. It's surprising they got up unhurt at all.

Thomas Fogarty: Joshua Slocum Thomas Fogarty is not too well known today. In the early years of the 20th century he and his colleague George Brandt Bridgman were popular and influential instructors at the Art Students' League in New York City. I SOLEMNLY SWEAR THAT I WILL SUPPORT AND DEFEND...

 As the "new normal" NFL season is upon us, my Facebook friends have been posting a lot lately (again) on both side of the argument about standing or not standing for the national anthem. I get it. I mean I get both sides.  I didn't back in 2016 when Colin Kaepernick kneeled during the national anthem. I was among the scoffers saying how un-American and disrespectful it was to the flag, to those who served in the military, to our country. I even looked up the US Code 36 § 301 which states: (A) individuals in uniform should give the military salute at the first note of the anthem and maintain that position until the last note; (B) members of the Armed Forces and veterans who are present but not in uniform may render the military salute in the manner provided for individuals in uniform; and (C) all other persons present should face the flag and stand at attention with their right hand over the heart, and men not in uniform, if applicable, should remove their headdress with ...

House Guests

Every so often we are blessed with house guests. This summer Augustine Tawiah (Dean of the Ghana Bible College where Tammie and I taught earlier this year) and his wife Lynn (a Memphis native), are multi-tasking. Augustine is taking a statistics course at the University of Memphis and Lynn is taking a teachers orientation and team-building course (she teaches at the American International School in Accra, Ghana.) These two dear friends show the Lord in all they do and I always learn so much from each of them. They never stay long enough. Another Ghanaian friend Gabriel (minister and elder at the 1000-member congregation in Kumasi) who Tammie and met in February, also visited us last week. What a gentle, precious soul he is and such a godly man. I feel humbled in his presence and his prayers of praise and thanksgiving will bless me for many years to come.
