Grandkid Tour...

Wow! What a whirlwind's trip! I logged in 2158 miles from Thursday morning till Monday night, Memphis to Princeton, WV to Springfield, VA; then the return Springfield to Louisville, KY and back to Memphis. Mom and my cousin Mary Lynn and I had a great time! The "twins" (my uncle and my Mom) Frank and Frances got to spend the evening of their 95th birthday together. We spent the night there in Princeton where he lives and went back over the next morning for a short visit before heading East. Mom got to visit a childhood friend of her's for a few minutes in Roanoke and then we arrived at Suz' in Springfield Friday afternoon. Mom was happy to meet her newest great grandchild Jess Samuel Landry Foster (age 2 1/2 months) and see his siblings Ian (10) and Evelynn (5). Saturday we headed to Lexington Park, MD, where we had a family lunch with Suzannah's other grandmother Carolyn Lepper and her Aunt Sarah and Uncle Duncan and their families. We ate at The Roost...

San Antonio, TX; Johnson City, TN; Springfield, VA...

So what do all those cities have in common? Those are the places I will have traveled to for one reason or another in the span of one week. San Antonio: Ed Gray and I had a great three days of training the Army in the Military Marriage Mentoring program. We also had the opportunity to talk with some young soldiers and it was a real wake-up call for both of us when we heard how none of the them could think of even on couple who had served as a model of a good marriage! We pray God will work in and through the mentors they come in contact with and that He will heal and strengthen their marriages. Unfortunately the trip to San Antonio conflicted with Sam and Drea's trip to Memphis for the wedding of Sam's best friend Brandon. They enjoyed their visit, but I only got to see them from about 9 PM on Saturday till Sunday afternoon. Still, it was good to get to hold and cuddle that precious Adelaide. What a sweetie.
